In the garden, After School
"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hoper, a prayer, a magic-bean-buyer. If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire, for we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" - Shel Silverstein
As you enter the Global Gardens classroom you can't miss the large quote displayed above the entrance, which invites Global Gardens students in everyday from 2:45-5pm for the after-school program. The free program serves approximately 30 third, fourth and fifth grade students year-round.
Students committed to the after-school program have their own plot in the garden, which they are responsible for developing and maintaining under the direction of the Global Gardens staff and volunteers.
Our after-school program functions as a community, beginning each day eating an after-school snack together before sharing our goals for the day as a group. After an afternoon of working, playing and dreaming we end the program with an appreciation circle.
